Holiday Jam 2017

Sunday, December 3, 7:00pm

New Hazlett Theater

The Holiday Jam returns for another year in 2017,  and we are ready to bring in the holiday season with style. Comments from our past shows:

“The best Christmas Concert ever!”

“What a show of talent on that stage!”

“Stunning arrangement”

“An awesome show!!!”

The playlist will continue our unique blend of jazz, rock, and innovative renditions of holiday classics. The house band brings together old friends and Pittsburgh favorites and reunites musicians who appeared for years on the WQED program Live From Studio A:

Pete Hewlett – vocals, guitar

Lisa Bleil – vocals

Scott Anderson – keyboards, vocals

Eric DeFade – saxophone

Dave Brown – guitar

Brian Stahurski – bass

Joe Waslousky – drums

Benny Benack, Jr. – saxophone and clarinet

Joe Herndon – trumpet

Bob Matchett – trombone

Cello Fury and Maria Becoates-Bey are scheduled to appear as special guests.

When Hewlett and Anderson hosted their holiday special on Live from Studio A, their rock-and-roll holiday tributes were always a favorite. Now they bring that same spirit to the Holiday Jam — an annual musical celebration that audiences love. Anderson, who served as Musical Director for Live from Studio A, comments on the Holiday Jam, now in its third year: “The audience was fantastic. Everyone  said that we have keep doing it every year, and we are more than happy to make it happen.” The set list will include old favorites, but Anderson emphasizes that it is the personal touch of the performers that will make the night special. “These are some of the best musicians I have ever played with, and on December 3, each one is going to have a chance to shine.”
